Suohpanterror
Áile Aikio writes: We Sámi have always been flexible and quick to adapt new ideas to our culture. The same resilience is typical for the anonymous Sámi art collective Suohpanterror. Suohpanterror uses pop-art, posters and performances, western iconic images augmented with Sámi cultural features and humour to comment on the Sámi situation, colonialism and the exploitation of nature.
Suohpanterror fights for the Sámi rights and for the land, as neither the Sámi nor our spirit, culture or language will live without land. The symbol for Sámi cultural uprising is the undecoded letter combination ČSV, that has become the synonym for all actions pro Sámi. That is also the message behind all Suohpanterror art. Suohpanterror – ČSV forever!
